The Sri Lankan Journalists for Global Justice (SLJGJ) have called on the public to support peace building efforts in the country without being carried away by rumours that would be advantageous to those who instigate violence.
The SLJGJ has also urged the Government to take steps to stop the rapid spread of communal or religious violence to ensure early return to normalcy.
While expressing deep concern over the incidence of communal violence in Ampara and Kandy, the SLJGJ noted that such incidents would pose a threat to the peaceful coexistence between communities, destabilize and bring discredit to the country.
